Red Cross Responds to West African Ebola Outbreak

Western Africa is undergoing the most serious outbreak of the Ebola virus yet recorded. It’s concentrated among five nations, including Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone. According to the World Health Organization, Ebola is “a severe acute viral illness often characterized by the sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding.” At this time it has a mortality rate of 90%.

Many chapters of the global Red Cross network are now providing medical supplies, care and support to the victims of this virus. The American branch of the Red Cross is participating in the effort to help victims and manage the outbreak, and to support agencies of the Red Cross in affected countries.

The American Red Cross’ response to the needs of these West African communities requires great coordination of logistics. At ZARGES, we are proud to be a part of this heroic effort. The Red Cross is using our cases to deploy response equipment to the field in an efficient and secure manner. Our durable aluminum cases allow the Red Cross to ship more supplies than they could with our competitors’ cases by providing greater storage capacity with the same footprint in a lighter weight case.

We hope you will also support the efforts to contain and eradicate the Ebola virus. Please visit The Red Cross International Support page to learn how you may contribute in an effective manner.
