• ZARGES Supports Trail of Change Expedition Project

Trail of Change # 2 (TOC) is a scientific expedition project by geomorphologist Hannes Künkel. In an October 2014 expedition, he traveled to the Himalayas with his Third Pole team as part of this project. In addition to the athletic challenge of a ski and snowboard (primarily) experience, the group explores how global warming affects glaciers and Himalayan habitats. ZARGES supports the project with rugged new ZARGES cases - the perfect companions for this demanding expedition. Video and photos from the previous Trail of Change (#1) are shown below and we look forward to new pictures from their adventures, soon.

In our email today, we received this anecdote from Johann: Found the blog while doing some research when finally giving some care and attention to my Zarges veteren. I bought this large case, with its 140 rivets second-hand in Frankfurt, Germany over 40 years ago. Since then it has carefully stored and transported precious family items from Europe to Saudi Arabia and, after a few years, down to New Zealand. It has served many years out in the weather. The only part that has needed replacement were the wooden "runners" on the base. Now I have up-cycled it as a… Read more…

However, these types of expeditions, for example to the Himalayas in Nepal or Pakistan, are more than simply a great adventure; they are also a logistical challenge. Materials and provisions often need to be transported across rough terrain on foot on treks that can last for days. That’s why it’s so important to ensure that everything is safely stowed away and can be transported simply in lightweight cases.… Read more…
