The History of ZARGES

In 1933, Walther Zarges founded the ZARGES Company, located in Stuttgard, Germany. ZARGES was created to utilize aluminum in fields outside of aircraft construction. The small startup company experienced an economic boom following World War II, leading to its growth into a global company. Although the core products produced by ZARGES are aluminum cases and ladders, the manufacturing scope of ZARGES has broadened to include more complicated and challenging projects.

The focus of Walther Zarges was to create products that were in demand, innovative, and of the highest quality. Quality and innovation are still a major aspect of ZARGES, but hand-made products became more difficult to make toward the end of the 1960s. The cost of production was increasing, and to expand production 75% of ZARGES was sold to VAW. Although ZARGES became part of a large industrial group after this, ZARGES continued to be leaders in aluminum case manufacturing and custom-made aluminum products. ZARGES continued development in the ladder and ladder equipment sector. By having three sectors of activity, ZARGES was able to continue doing business even in economic recessions.

ZARGES acquired the Tubesca Company, expanding their market to France. Along with this move, ZARGES established a new production plant in Hungary, further expanding their market in Europe. The expansion has allowed ZARGES to become the leader for access technology in Europe as well a leading global company in the area of logistics. Its subsidiary, ZAS, specializes in custom-made constructions, particularly the production of fittings for wind powered systems.

Today, ZARGES caters to a wide variety of industries, including chemicals and pharmaceuticals, aviation and defense, electronics, leisure, and healthcare. By producing top quality aluminum cases, trolleys, pallets, scaffolding, ladders, and medical storage cabinets, ZARGES is able to provide the critically needed equipment for these industries.

Aluminum cases manufactured by ZARGES are used to ship COTS equipment through extreme environments because of the superior nature of the material. It is light weight, durable, and unaffected by temperature. It is the material of choice when shipping to these destinations, and ensures that the product will arrive safely and will be able to perform correctly. Aluminum offers performance that thermoplastics and composites do not, and because of this the aluminum cases manufactured by ZARGES are the best choice for shipping this sensitive equipment. Along with its strength benefits, aluminum is more effectively recycled than both thermoplastics and composites.
